Goat Facilities and Equipment
Responsible goat ownership and management calls for
attention to fencing, adequate protection from the
elements and protection from
predators. |

Goats are very adaptable animals and do not
require fancy or expensive housing. Goats can
tolerate cold weather, but should nor remain
cold and wet for long periods.
Take time to visit other goat farms in your
area to see what sort of goat housing works
best for them. Oftentimes, existing buildings
can be utilized to house goats, store hay and
equipment. If properly constructed, fences can
keep goats in and help in keeping predators
out.
Goats require approximately 20-25 square feet
per animal of space and should accommodate the
herd without crowding. Fences should be at
least 5-6 foot tall.
